Matthew Young Chief Executive Officer / Co-Founder

Prior to founding Akooba in 2009, Matthew worked in the electronics recycling division of a major national recycler where he served as the Project Manager for developing a proprietary on-line auction site for enterprise clients, General Manager of online sales, and General Manager of Asset Management Solutions. With a combined eight years of experience in various executive roles for IT asset management companies, Matthew Young founded Akooba with the belief that his innovative technology solutions could support and improve the quality of services offered by the industry.

Matthew Yorkgitis Chief Technology Officer / Co-Founder

Matthew Yorkgitis graduated from the University of Maryland College Park with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He has experience developing software for electronics recycling companies and government defense contractors. He specializes in developing hardware and software solutions for automated systems, IT systems management, data security, and selling through e-commerce platforms.

Meagan Carlock Chief Financial Officer

Prior to joining Akooba, Meagan spent a decade working in finance, human resources, and operations for two national non-profit organizations and also worked one year as a management consultant in the federal sector. Meagan taught 8th grade Science for two years as a Teach For America Corps Member following her graduation from the University of Michigan.

Charles "Chip" Stuart Director of Marketing

Prior to joining the Akooba management team, Charles assisted local businesses in the greater Washington DC area to develop marketing strategy and brand collateral. Charles began his career as an account executive for TMG, a boutique consulting and marketing agency in New York City, where he oversaw the development of marketing collateral for major medical device companies. As a freelance writer, Charles has been writing about the electronic recycling industry since 2010. Charles is a graduate of Miami University.

Danny Pennington Technical Operations Manager

Daniel was recruited in 2015 to direct the refurbishment and IT Asset Management processes and oversee daily warehouse operations. He graduated from the University Maryland and has years of personal and professional experience in the fields of electronics refurbishing, e-commerce, logistics, and technical support.

Willie Blaszkiewicz Warehouse Operations Manager

William began his career as an account manager overseeing the multi-million dollar policies for health insurances. Joining the Akooba team in 2015, Willie oversees warehouse and logistics operations. With a knack for providing critical feedback, Willie supports in the implementation and testing of new software within the Akooba warehouse. Willie is a graduate of the University of Maryland.

Erik Young M.D. Chairman / Co-Founder

Erik Young oversees the strategic planning and expansion of Akooba, Inc. He enjoyed successful careers in medicine and real estate development before co-founding Akooba. He is a graduate of the University of Maryland College Park and the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He and his wife Joyce are proud to support academic and athletic programs at the University of Maryland and the Stevens Institute of Technology.
